Technologies of distributed ledgers and blockchains

The section is being held by joint initiative of the ISP RAS and is devoted to technologies of blockchain and distributed ledgers. Issues to be considered during this event include, but are not limited to the following topics:

  • Transactions and transaction validation.
    a. Transaction for general purpose data – contracts, agreements, obligations, etc. Machine- and human- readable data.
    b. Keeping data off-chain, sidechain.
    c. Validation of general-purpose data.
  • Consensus.
    a. "Proof of …" consensus schemes.
    b. Fraud detection.
    c. Identification of hostile or faulty nodes.
  • Code execution on the ledger (smart contracts/chain code).
    a. Languages for smart contracts.
    b. Execution environments, virtual machines.
    c. Cost of execution, execution termination.
  • Scalability and performance: storage and block construction.
    a. Technology limitations for thousands transactions per second.
    b. Sharding, distributed file systems, distributed databases.
  • Network protocols for blockchain and DLT.
    a. Real time protocols for peer-to-peer communication.
    b. Reliable transmission in unreliable network with malicious nodes.
    c. Broadcasting, multicasting / groups, channels.
  • Security and safety. New threats connected with DLT and blockchains.
  • Trust in untrusted environments.
    a. Client Identification. Know Your Client.
    b. Anonymity and deanonymisation.

We invite researchers and practitioners to submit their non-published and non-submitted for other conferences articles on theoretical studies and practical implementations on the above-mentioned topics.
